How the goal calculation works
P = (FV − existing corpus grown) × i / [((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) × (1 + i)]
The SIP formula is inverted to solve for the instalment. Anything you have already invested is compounded forward first and subtracted from the target, so only the genuine shortfall is funded by the new monthly investment.
Frequently asked questions
Why adjust a financial goal for inflation?
A goal set in today's rupees understates what it will cost in future. If education costs ₹20 lakh today and inflation runs at 6%, the same requirement is materially higher in fifteen years. Planning against the inflated figure avoids a shortfall.
